Workforce Stability Institute Merges with Human Capital Institute

The Human Capital Institute (HCI) and the Herman Group announced in Washington DC today that they have entered an agreement to merge the Workforce Stability Institute (operated by the Herman Group) with HCI. Under the terms of the agreement, the Workforce Stability Institute (WSI) will become part of HCI as a distinct but integrated body of research and learning available to HCI members. WSI members will be offered free one-year memberships in HCI.

Both HCI and WSI are not-for-profit organizations dedicated to the advancement of thinking and best practice in talent management. "In discussions with Roger Herman and Joyce Gioia, (principals of WSI) it became clear to me that our organizations share important philosophies around helping companies and government build the most value from their workforce," said Allan Schweyer, Executive Director of HCI. "Mr. Herman and Ms. Gioia have become well-known for their ideas around planning for workforce changes, recruiting, workforce optimization and retention, we are thrilled to have them as partners in HCI."

Roger Herman, Chief Executive Officer of the Herman Group and Senior Fellow of WSI said, "The Human Capital Institute has built a strong reputation very quickly by delivering quality and timely information about strategic people management. We are just as impressed with their plans for the future and look forward to working with them to continue the work we've done over the past eight years through the Workforce Stability Institute."

HCI hopes to begin offering WSI materials and education in August 2004 when integration of the sites and membership is expected to be complete. Roger Herman and Joyce Gioia will serve on HCI's national advisory board as well as on HCI panels looking into future labor trends. They will also be frequent speakers at HCI events. The Herman Group will continue to advise on the ongoing development of WSI within the Human Capital Institute.
